Puzzles, our most enjoyable struggle.

Updated: Aug 29, 2019

Whenever we find an opening in our busy schedule, we take the opportunity to make puzzles. We all enjoy fitting the pieces together very much, looking for those bits of a specific color that you lack in a corner to complete a car, a tree, the edge of a princess's beast or the highest part of the snowy roof of a house in the mountain.

But this hobby is not only good for enjoying our time; it also helps us to develop and improve different abilities and skills. For example, simple jigsaws and other types of puzzles may help enhance our memory and shape recognition, as we need to recall the size, color and shape of various pieces, as we are working through the puzzle. If a piece doesn’t fit, we set it aside, but we remember it for the time it is needed.

Moreover, we practice our hand-eye coordination since our brain, eyes and hands work together to find the piece, manipulate it accordingly, and fit it into the puzzle accurately, which is also related to the development of our fine motor skills, which we use when writing with our hands.

And last, but not least, we develop problem solving abilities and we establish our own objectives. A very good way to start the process is by "setting small goals".
