Playing and Cheering

Updated: Aug 30, 2019

Every afternoon, after they've had their lunch prepared by the nurses, the children are ready for some games. Around 2 PM we meet with them and participate in a variety of small sport activities. We play classical games, such as rope jumping, badminton, playing with a ball, puzzles. Most of the time, however, they have their own idea of playing. For example, one boy loved to guide us through the rules of his own game and became the leader of his friends. Another boy would just take our hand and constantly give us a hand shake. When we figured out the special characteristics and needs of each child, we found better ways to play and interact with them. We also have drawing sessions, where we prepare pictures and color them together with them. They really enjoy participating in the activities and sharing their games with us.

We played the more games like Secret Coin, The Pot, Blind Grand Ma, Dragon Rope, and Musical Chairs. There are a lot of positive things that we can get from doing this creative, energic, and passionate games. For example Blind Grandma helps us to remember more easily names; Dragon Rope helps us develop good teamwork; Secret coin, The Pot, and Musical Chairs bring joy and fun exercises for the participants.

We continue with various games and activities until it is time for dinner, after which the children return to their rooms. At the end of every day, mostly around 5 pm, we always feel exhausted from all the events, but at the same time, already looking forward to seeing the children again the next morning.
