The Giant Turnip

Welcome to our first Folk Tale! This was the first time the interns acted out a traditional Bulgarian tale in front of the children in the Centre for Rehabilitation. Special storytelling for special children. Since our international interns cannot just tell the story using words, they presented the story in the form of drama theatre instead. They acted as the characters and even wore Bulgarian traditional clothes.

They presented The Giant Turnip, which tells the story of a grandpa who plants a turnip, but then the turnip grows too big, and he cannot pull it out by himself. He asks first the grandma, then the daughter, then the dog and finally, the mouse to help him with the pulling. By the end of the story the turnip is successfully pulled out thanks to the efforts of the whole family.

The tale reminds us of the importance of teamwork and that nothing is impossible, if we work together.
